Switching Business Phone Providers: The Zero-Drama Checklist

Businesses stay in bad phone relationships for the same reason people keep bad gyms: switching feels like a project. Week 1: Inventory and sign-up

Week 3: The flip

  • Confirm the port date (FOC) with the new provider
  • On port day: make a test inbound and outbound call on every main number after the flip
  • Update the numbers nowhere — that's the point of porting; your number came with you
  • Watch analytics for a week: answer rate, missed-call texts sent, voicemail volume
  • Now cancel the old account — in writing, effective after the port — and check the final bill for fictional fees
